Brave giraffes stride boldly into the African Valley
Since 3 April, when the Kenyan High Commissioner, Joseph Muchemi, officially opened the African Valley, we have been encouraging the herd to enter, but being naturally cautious it has taken them time to build up the confidence to make the short walk from their paddock.
The giraffe are joined by over 35 Ellipsen waterbuck, Grevy’s zebra and ostrich, all of which create a spectacular sight as they roam free in their new habitat. Our new restaurant, Café Graze, overlooks the African Valley and gives sweeping views of the animals as they wander together.
A great deal of knowledge, perseverance and hard work has gone into making this dream a reality and it’s a credit to our keepers’ patience that we’ve achieved this momentous goal.
