Meet the Easter Bunny this Easter weekend

ostrichBack by popular demand, our Wild Egg Hunt will be taking place during the Easter bank holiday weekend (2 – 5 April). Children of all ages can search out wild eggs around the park and meet the Easter Bunny for a free chocolate egg. Best of all, there’s a chance to win a monster chocolate ostrich egg every day from Hotel Chocolat for some real indulgence.

The theme of eggs and young birds continues throughout the holidays (2 – 18 April), with a focus on the world’s biggest bird; the ostrich. Meet and quiz our keepers to learn all about these fascinating birds, including their unusual nesting habits and why they can’t fly. Children can also get up close to a real ostrich egg to see what they’re really made of, and take part in our Bird Nest Challenge in the craft area.

Our 2010 fundraising appeal, FLIGHT, is all about birds. We’re raising money to develop woodland next to the park into a nature reserve to encourage native wildlife and improve access to nature for local communities. When you visit, look out for our colourful, bird themed, collection boxes around the park which were recently decorated with the help of 50 local school children.

Lastly, don’t forget to bring your camera with you as there’s still time to enter the Marwell Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition. Open to children aged 15 and under, as well as adults, there are four categories to enter: FLIGHT, Native wildlife, funnies and Marwell residents – find out more about the judges, prizes, rules.
