Marwell Zoo gets ready to leg it for lemurs!
We are preparing for a stampede with a difference this Sunday (29th April) with over 1000 people descending on the park to take part in the 10k Marwell Road Race.
Jointly organised with Eastleigh Running Club, all money raised will go towards the zoo’s conservation campaign to help protect endangered animal species, such as the lemur, on the Indian Ocean Island of Madagascar. Click here for more information on the 'Madagascar Matters'
campaign.
The 10k road race will see runners gather in front of the Rhinos, complete a lap of the park whilst the Zebras look on, and finally take in the surrounding Hampshire country lanes before re-entering the Park for the final sprint to Marwell Hall.
Children are also doing their bit for Madagascar by taking part in the specially designed Junior Fun Run. The Fun Run has proved extremely popular, with over 300 children aged 5-11 expected to take part. As the Tigers look on they will set off towards the Bat Eared Foxes, before heading towards the all new Encounter Village and finally passing the Gibbons before making the dash up the hill to Marwell Hall for the finish.
The Junior Fun Run starts at 10.00am, with the adult race starting at 10.30am.

With numerous prizes and trophies up for grabs, including a prize for a new course record, plenty of top times are sure to be set.
The Marwell Zoo 10k Road Race is kindly sponsored by Wildlife Worldwide, Families Worldwide, and Up and Running Southampton.
Marwell Zoological Park's very own 'rhino' team taking part in the 2006 Race.
