Happy Birthday Khama!
Khama, our youngest giraffe celebrated his 1st birthday on Friday 22nd February with a special treat from his keeper Holly.
Like all our giraffes, Khama loves fruit and vegetables and his absolute favourite is bananas. So Holly made up a special selection which Khama tucked into straight away – going straight for the bananas of course!
Why not visit the Park this weekend and wish Khama a happy birthday. He is easy to spot as he is our shortest giraffe.
Khama was born just after the Park closed to visitors on 22nd February and had a rocky start to life. His mum, Grace, didn’t take to him and he was hand reared by our keepers. He has certainly made up for his slow start though - Khama was already 6 foot tall when he was born and over the last 12 months he has grown another impressive 3 foot.

Khama is named after the king of the Bamangwato people of Bechuanaland (now Botswana) in 1875. The king was known as the Good King of Bechuanaland and was renowned for being a peaceful ruler.
