New baby douroucouli born
A new owl monkey is keeping a watchful eye over the Park during the spring nights.
We are proud to announce the successful birth of a baby douroucouli. Also known as owl monkeys, they are the world’s only nocturnal monkey. Native to South America, Keepers have called the new baby Curraray after a river in Ecuador.
The baby was born on the 9th February and when fully grown will be around 40cm long. Douroucoulis live in small family groups and Curraray lives with mum Xingu, dad Tigre and two older siblings, Madeira and Japura in their home round the back of the World of Lemurs. Curraray can usually be seen hitching a ride on dad or big sister’s back.
