Marwell Wildlife is a registered charity dedicated to the conservation of biodiversity and other natural resources. We employ a talented team who are passionate about conservation, education, research, welfare and sustainability. From ring-tailed coatis to majestic giraffes, endangered tigers to frilled lizards, curious meerkats to pygmy hippos – our 140-acre park is home to an incredible range of exotic and endangered species, in beautiful, landscaped surroundings.

HEAD OF PROJECT management

Wild Explorers siteAn exciting new role for a Head of Project Management has arisen, as Marwell embarks on an inspiring programme of work, incorporating a series of major exhibits in accordance with our master plan. The purpose of this new role is to manage a variety of building projects from conception to completion. Such projects will range in size and budget, from multi-million pound new animal exhibit builds to smaller scale guest facilities.

The successful candidate will have experience of working within a similar role and have proven experience of managing projects of varying sizes up to £5m, including budget management, CDM, ISO 14001 and adherence with relevant construction regulations. Experience of using CAD and a Project Management qualification such as Prince 2 or equivalent would be advantageous.

Reporting to the Finance Director this role requires strong communication and IT skills together with experience of financial reporting. Applicants must be able to build and maintain excellent relationships with existing departments and ensure minimum disruption to our park and guests.

senior animal keeper

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Animal Keeper to join our Bird Team. This position would suit a Keeper who has experience working with a variety of bird species including penguins and flamingos.

Humboldts penguinRoles and responsibilities will include supporting the Team Leader on your allocated section, ensuring high standards of animal husbandry are maintained at all times along with daily checks and record keeping.

Applicants will need to have previous experience of working with birds in a zoological collection, hold 5 GCSE’s or equivalent and a full driving licence valid for the UK. The DMZAA or equivalent qualification is also essential at Senior Keeper level.

The successful candidate will be able to work well as part of a team, have the ability to use theirinitiative, display interest and commitment to animal welfare and conservation, and must possess strong verbal communication skills,as talking to members of the publicis an essential part of the role.

CATERING MANAGER

Cafe GrazeSupporting our Head of Catering Services, you will be pivotal in delivering the highest quality and standards of presentation and service, day-to-day across all our Catering outlets. As a hands-on leader and team player you will use your skills and energy to motivate our Catering Team, inspiring a focus on meeting and exceeding guest needs. With your talent for developing imaginative products, presentation and knowledge of current food trends, you will ensure that our brand values are reflected, whilst maximising income and profitability.

You will have previous experience of working in a commercial and guest facing catering environment. As a minimum you will be qualified to NVQ level 3 (or equivalent) in food safety and have significant experience of managing food hygiene and environmental health. You will be able to demonstrate your true passion to deliver outstanding results, with excellent attention to detail and clear verbal and written communication skills, which you will bring to bear in direct contact with our guests.

MAINTENANCE fencer

MaintenanceWe are currently looking for a Maintenance Fencer to join our Maintenance Team; working 40 hours per week (to include some weekends and on call) you will be responsible for planning, erecting, and inspecting all park fencing, as well as routine maintenance, and repairs.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of fencing techniques and have knowledge of all relevant legislation regarding fencing. Previous welding and tractor driving experience are also essential. An understanding of zoo licensing requirements would be advantageous. Due to the need to drive park vehicles, candidates must also hold a full driving license valid for the UK.

Please note this is a manual role that will involve climbing and lifting in order to move and position materials.
