Marwell Wildlife is a registered charity dedicated to the conservation of biodiversity and other natural resources. We employ a talented team who are passionate about conservation, education, research, welfare and sustainability. From ring-tailed coatis to majestic giraffes, endangered tigers to frilled lizards, curious meerkats to pygmy hippos – our 140-acre park is home to an incredible range of exotic and endangered species, in beautiful, landscaped surroundings.

FINANCE ASSISTANT (PART TIME)

Marwell  HallAn excellent opportunity has arisen for a part time Finance Assistant to join our team on a 6 month fixed term contract. Working 17.5 hours per week Monday-Friday (preferably mornings), the successful candidate will be able to work 1 day in every Bank Holiday weekend and also be available to work up to 7 hours extra per week as paid overtime if required.

The post holder will be responsible for the preparation of cash for collection, management of coin stock, reconciliation of till reports to cash collection service reports and other office administration. The successful candidate will take great pride in maintaining high levels of accuracy and will have the ability to make decisions and judgments using logic and common sense sometimes under tight deadlines.

Previous experience in cash handling, preferably in a banking environment, is essential as are GCSE passes of grade C or above in Maths and English (or equivalent) and confidence with Excel. The role also involves manual handling of coin bags.

MAINTENANCE WORKS MANAGER

MaintenanceAn exciting opportunity has arisen for a Maintenance Works Manager to join our team. Working 40 hours per week (to include some weekends and on call) you will be responsible for assisting the Head of Facilities in providing Marwell Wildlife with facilities of excellent condition and operational performance, through the organisation and management of maintenance and repair activities.

With your passion for developing staff and focus on continual improvement you will ensure that the Maintenance Team provide an exceptional standard of service to our internal clients. You will use your knowledge of the major building trades to set high professional standards for the work carried out across the park, checking and signing off on completed works.

You will have excellent organisational, planning, problem solving, communication and record keeping skills and proven experience of people management. Due to the need to drive company vehicles, a full driving licence valid for the UK is essential.

Flamingo chicks by RhiannaAn opportunity has arisen to join our Animal Management Team as a Team leader of the Bird section.

We have exciting plans for our collection and exhibits, offering great opportunities for creative project and team work. This role is responsible for coordinating & supervising daily operations of the team, under the direction of the Collection Manager, therefore excellent communication, organisational and people management skills are essential.

The successful candidate must have an extensive knowledge and wide-ranging experience of the management of Birds.

Candidates must hold a minimum Level 3 ANC/DMZAA or equivalent qualification in animal management or biological sciences.

Zoo veterinarian

Amur Leopard cubA great opportunity has arisen for a Zoo Veterinarian to join our team on a permanent basis.

The successful post-holder will provide veterinary care to collection animals, promoting the highest standards of animal welfare, continue to develop preventative health care programmes and continue the development of Veterinary services at Marwell in conjunction with the Head of Veterinary Services.                                                                                                                            

The successful candidate will be a Member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons and hold an RCVS recognised veterinary degree or equivalent. The post holder must have significant experience as a practicing Veterinary Surgeon. Experience with zoo, wildlife or exotic pet species would be advantageous.

Applicants must have clear and effective written and oral communication skills, have good budget management skills and be highly organised, with the ability to meet numerous demands working to tight deadlines. Applicants must be IT literate with good Word and Excel skills.

Due to the need to drive park vehicles, candidates must also hold a full driving licence valid for the UK.
