Welcome to Marwell Zoo!

We want you to enjoy a great day at the zoo and we will need your help to keep everyone safe.

We’ve put together this guest guidance and FAQs detailing everything you need to know ahead of your visit.

Book your timed entry online

We’re still carefully monitoring numbers in the zoo so everyone enjoys a comfortable visit! All guests including members, under threes and carers must please prebook tickets online for the correct day before arrival. Regrettably, entry will only be permitted to guests with a valid ticket on arrival. Tickets are available to book seven days ahead only and are strictly non-refundable and non-transferable to another date.

You will need to choose a session time for your visit, 10am – 3pm ,10.30am – 3.30pm or *11am until 4pm. Please do not arrive any earlier than your timeslot to avoid overcrowding on entry. Please make sure you book the correct time, date, number of guests before you book as tickets are strictly non-refundable and non-transferrable to another date. We are unable to admit guests who have not pre-booked a ticket prior to arrival. Each ticket must also be valid for the correct time slot and date of visit.

If you have our old app, you’ll need to delete it and then head into the app store to redownload the new app called ‘Marwell Zoo’. Available on iOS and Android.


Please remember we are an outdoor attraction, and our indoor areas are limited. Don’t forget to check the forecast before you book and make sure you dress for the weather.

All payments are by card only and we’d really appreciate you using contactless (£100 limit) wherever you can.

Help protect yourself and others

Help protect yourself and others, we respectfully ask you to consider wearing a face covering in crowded areas and all our indoor spaces. Please be patient and respectful of our team and other guests who continue to take precautions to protect themselves and others from coronavirus. You’ll see there are plenty of hand sanitising and hand washing stations around the park so please make use of them. You’ll see us cleaning a lot more but please help us by avoiding touching fences, windows, signs and exhibits. Keep left on the wider paths and follow the one-way routes on narrow paths and through some animal buildings.

Walking safari

We encourage guests to imagine Marwell as a walking safari. With 140 acres of beautiful parkland to explore, take your time to stroll around with a patient and watchful eye. If animals are not immediately visible, they could be resting in their den or under a shady tree so make time to pop back later. It will be worth the wait!

Gift Shop

Our gift shop is open! We respectfully ask guests to consider wearing a face covering.

Our valued members

We are always extremely grateful for the support we receive from our members, and this is now more vital than ever. Our valued members can now pre-book online to visit us the same afternoon. To thank our members for their unwavering support, we will be carefully monitoring ticket numbers at the zoo and releasing a limited number of places each day exclusively to our membership holders. Tickets are available to book online at around 1pm each day valid for a same afternoon visit anytime from 2pm with last entry one hour before closing.

Ask us

If you have any queries, our team are, as always, delighted to help. We will always treat our guests with courtesy and in return we ask you are patient and respectful of our team and other guests at all times. As a family attraction, we have a policy of zero tolerance against abusive behaviour.

Support us

Marwell Zoo is a charity, and we need you now more than ever. After our unprecedented closures and significantly reduced guest numbers as part of our safety measures, we are facing our toughest challenge to date and our road to recovery will be long.

When you book, please choose to make a 10 per cent donation and tick the Gift Aid box as this means we are able to reclaim tax from the Government on the full ticket price– that’s an extra 25 per cent to help us secure the future of wildlife for generations to come at no extra cost to you. Without your support, we cannot claim back any tax at all.

We’re also still accepting donations to our JustGiving fundraiser. Every penny adds up and so does our gratitude, so thank you for your loyal support.

Important Update:

Great news! Our Energy for Life: Tropical House and walkthrough aviaries are once again open to guests. Strict measures remain in place in accordance with national legislation to protect our birds and prevent any future spread of the disease.

  • Additional handwashing, sanitisers, foot mats and foot dips have been put in place at our walkthrough areas.  If you see these on your journey through the zoo, please use them.
  • If you keep captive birds at home, who are usually outdoors, please avoid entering our walkthrough aviaries and Energy for Life: Tropical House.
