Bees A Buzzin
Meridian Beekeepers will be in the park from Thursday 23 till Sunday 26 July to explain the mysterious ways of bees and demonstrate bee-keeping techniques.
Watch honey bees at close quarters in an observation hive and see the queen bee as she lays eggs. Use a microscope to see how complex honeycomb is, inspect bee nests and watch a colony of bumble bees at work. Learn about the life cycles of the honey bee and the conservation issues facing indigenous bees. Expert bee keepers will also be on hand to answer your questions.
The beekeeping demonstrations will take place at 11.30am, 1.30pm and 3.30pm (subject to weather) from Thursday 23 till Sunday 26 July next to the tiger playground in the park.
Entry is free although normal park admission costs apply.
