NEW: Quiet Glow ✨

August 17, 2023

We are proud to be hosting two Quiet Glow evenings specifically aimed at our guests who would prefer to experience the magic of Glow Marwell at a more relaxed pace.

Our quiet nights will be on Monday 4 December and Monday 11 December 2023. We will reduce the volume of the music around the event and reduce capacity so guests can enjoy a calmer and less crowded environment.

Glow Marwell is an amazing sensory friendly experience! Immerse yourself in our enchanted nature lights trail full of half a million gently twinkling lights, brand new illuminations, photo opportunities and interactive elements.

Father Christmas will also be making an appearance at Quiet Glow! He’ll be inside his festive woodland cabin on both dates to spread seasonal cheer. If you’d like to meet him, simply turn up at the cabin and pay on the day. Tickets are £10 per child (0-17) and include a gift. Tickets for Father Christmas cannot be pre-booked and are subject to availability.

Nicky Cole, Senior Events Manager, said: “We’re hugely excited about welcoming guests to our magical Glow Marwell Christmas event this year. However, we can appreciate this time of year can be, at times, overwhelming, particularly for those with special educational needs.

“We hope our Quiet Glow events will provide a welcoming and sensory friendly space for all those families who may struggle with loud crowded environments, so the magic of Christmas can be enjoyed by all.”

Have fun in our LED playground, walk across light-up stepping stones, and strike a pose on Rainbow Road.

This year’s multicoloured light tunnel spans an incredible 36 metres and our bespoke made Enchanted Tree will tower overhead, mesmerising children and adults alike.

There will be treats galore at our festive food cabins with sweet and savoury delights designed to tempt the taste buds.

Our whimsical Wishing Tree will return, along with snow machines, Christmas trees and the incredibly popular fire pits for marshmallow toasting.

Marwell’s ancient trees will enjoy a gentle colourwash of light and the silhouette box will be back for the perfect selfie!

Plus, we’re adding a dusting of snowflakes, beautiful butterflies, colourful clouds and some very special light shows.

We offer one free carer for every paying guest with accessibility needs. We do ask for proof of accessibility needs, please contact the zoo directly if you have any queries.

Guests with Glow Marwell tickets can access the zoo for free from 1pm to see our resident animals ahead of the evening event. Our animal houses will close at 3.30pm and we’ll be inviting guests to experience the zoo in a different light when the trail lights up from 4pm until 8pm.
