Amazing and interesting day out!

“We visited Marwell as a spontaneous day out on a Sunday in May 2015. The first thing about the zoo that I noticed was the wide paths and just how open it was. We really appreciated all the space, it was nice to have as much time as we liked to look at the animals without feeling like we had to move on or that we were in the way of others. As well as this I learnt lots of different facts about each species thanks to the little boards around each enclosure. The enclosures of the animals were great sizes, all the animals looked comfortable and content! I was surprised to see so many out and about, especially the snow leopards whom I had thought would be very camera shy. It probably helped that we had great luck with the weather. I especially enjoyed the giraffe enclosure as there is a walkway ending with a raised platform so you can overlook the field and watch the giraffes running about! There were a good amount of snack stops around the zoo which was appreciated, as well as picnic areas and benches. Although the food is a little over priced, this was expected (and we didn't really mind as it was very tasty)! When we visited there was a BBQ tent outside the Cafe, a great idea. An easy way to save money on food would be to take a picnic. We almost missed the lawn around the back of Marwell House - luckily not, this area is lovely for a picnic. And if the weather is nice enough, a spot of sunbathing! The gift shop was very impressive! We visited this last and I couldn't resist a fluffy snow leopard toy. I would reccommend Marwell Zoo to anyone! It is a lovely day out. Be sure to pay a little extra upon entry as a donation - I am confident that at the end of the day you will leave and be happy you did!”
