Cheetah Acinonyx jubatus are vulnerable to extinction following declines in numbers and distribution due to habitat loss and fragmentation, and depletion of natural prey. Where they exist, cheetah are often blamed and persecuted for livestock losses.

We have been involved in long term studies on the status and ecology of cheetah, and related community and schools’ education programmes in Zimbabwe. We also focus on cheetah as part of community based wildlife monitoring work in Kenya, and have contributed to studies on the elusive Saharan cheetah in Niger.
