Animal Keeper – PSM 

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Animal Keeper to join our Primates & Small Mammals team on a full time basis.

Animal Keepers are responsible for carrying out all aspects of animal care, including husbandry routines, managerial operations and environmental enrichment, and supporting veterinary intervention as required.

The successful candidate will have a background in the keeping of Primates & Small Mammals. You will be able to work well as part of a team, have the ability to use your initiative, display an interest in and commitment to animal welfare and conservation, and must possess strong communication skills.

Animal Keeper – Birds 

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Animal Keeper to join our Birds team on a full time basis, working 40 hours per week over 5 days. Our Animal Keepers must have a strong Avian focussed background with zoological experience as they will be required to work with an eclectic mix of bird species on a dynamic forward thinking team.

Animal Keepers are responsible for carrying out all aspects of animal care, including husbandry routines, managerial operations and environmental enrichment, and supporting veterinary intervention as required.

The successful candidate will be able to work well as part of a team, have the ability to use their initiative, display an interest in and commitment to avian welfare and conservation, and must possess strong communication skills.

Cleaners

We have some exciting opportunities for Cleaners (Environmental Services Assistants) to join the Marwell family in our Environmental Services Team on casual contracts.

The successful candidates will be responsible for cleaning and maintaining guest areas within the park to a high standard, ensuring our guests have an exceptional visitor experience.

As a guest focused attraction, providing outstanding guest service at all times is an essential part of this role, therefore the successful candidate must have a proven track record of providing excellent customer service. Due to the need to drive park vehicles, candidates must also hold a full driving license valid for the UK.

Casual contracts will involve varied hours including Bank Holidays, weekends, evenings and seasonal periods.

Keeper Work Experience

Important information:

If you are interested in keeper work experience, please read the following carefully before completing our application form.

Applications for 2022 are now closed.

Applications for 2023 should be submitted no earlier than November 2022. 

Marwell runs an unpaid work experience keeper scheme between March and August each year, for a period of two weeks only.

Placements are limited to students 17 years of age and over and who are already studying an animal related course such as the Diploma in The Management of Zoo and Aquarium Animals (DMZAA).

For Sparsholt College & University Centre (Winchester) students – applications should be made to your tutor direct at the beginning of November of the year prior to the period of work experience required.

We do not offer internships

All work experience students must fulfil all of the above criteria and be able to produce a letter from their tutor confirming their appropriate course and be able to attend an interview before being considered for a placement .

Veterinary student applications

COVID-19 update – Outside our planned elective schedule we are currently unable to accommodate any veterinary placements on-site due to on-going restrictions imposed by the current situation. This will be reviewed in February 2023.

We currently have limited availability for veterinary student placements, and can only provide clinical EMS. Priority is given to vet students enrolled with the University of Surrey. However, where possible, the vet team will consider 4th and final year vet students, from other Universities. Earlier years cannot be accommodated at present. Internships

We do not offer internships at this time.

We regret that we are unable to take students from school for keeper work experience.
