Half-Day Post 16 Conferences at Marwell Zoo

For those looking to incorporate real world learning experiences for their Biology, Psychology or Animal Management students, our Post 16 half-day conferences provide a unique balance of formal lectures and applied learning, to engage students and facilitate key learning outcomes as detailed in the overview documents below.

Our half-day conferences run during designated weeks in the Autumn, Spring and Summer terms. Conferences are held in our lecture theatre at the Science and Learning Centre and can accommodate up to 90 pupils per session, making them ideal for large groups.

Animal Behaviour Conference

This half-day conference provides an opportunity for students to collect and evaluate their own observational data as well as learning about the value of animal behaviour studies for wildlife conservation and captive animal welfare.

Wildlife Conservation Conference

This half-day conference provides a more in depth insight into the world of wildlife conservation using selected Marwell case studies to explore some of the issues and dilemmas faced by threatened species and those working locally and globally to protect their wild populations and habitats.

Conference Information

Conferences run from 10:30am to 1:30pm (including a mid-morning, 20-minute break with tea and coffee provided) leaving plenty of time in the afternoon for you and your students to enjoy the zoo. If you are booking the Wildlife Conservation Conference and would like to include an additional session (at no extra cost) on Classification, then please indicate your preference on the booking form.
