Expedition Marwell: Turn your pupils into explorers for the day
Expedition Marwell is an immersive, curriculum-linked school trip for Pre-School to Year 6, bringing learning to life through animals, nature and real conservation science.
Pupils take on the role of young explorers, tackling hands-on challenges around the zoo as they discover more about wildlife, the natural world and what it takes to protect it.
Every Expedition pupil will also receive a voucher for a free return visit, giving them the chance to enjoy Marwell Zoo again with their family. Terms apply.

An expedition with a purpose
Inspired by Professor Seymour, an explorer from Marwell’s past, pupils set out on their own expedition through the zoo.
Along the way they’ll observe, investigate, question and discover, using the same skills that conservationists use to understand wildlife and help nature recover.
It’s active, hands-on learning designed to support the curriculum while building curiosity, confidence and a stronger connection with the natural world.

Explore the zoo through hands-on activities, observation and real conservation science, with challenges adapted to suit the age of your group. - Continue the adventure
Take what you’ve discovered into the rest of your zoo visit, seeing animals, habitats and conservation through new eyes.
+ ADD ON Animal Academy
Extend your experience with a 30-minute guided animal encounter, giving pupils the opportunity to observe one of our species more closely and discover the individual animals, their behaviours and their stories. Please note: there is no handling of animals

Expedition Marwell isn’t simply a guided zoo tour. Our Education Team has designed the experience to support classroom learning through enquiry, observation and hands-on investigation.
Sessions are adapted for different ages from Pre-School to Year 6 and can support learning across science, geography and the wider curriculum, including animals and habitats, adaptation, ecosystems, conservation and our relationship with the natural world.
