We’re celebrating Love Your Zoo week at Marwell Zoo this May half term (Saturday 25 May to Sunday 2 June) with a host of ways for guests to get involved and share what they love about their zoo.
Love Your Zoo Week is an annual nationwide week long event led by the British and Irish Association of Zoos and Aquariums (BIAZA). It hopes to promote the important work zoos contribute to nature conservation, education and research.
Guests at the zoo will be able to take part in animal-themed craft sessions and show their love by jotting down their favourite things about Marwell Zoo then hanging them on our Wishing Tree for everyone to see.
Stop by and say hi to animal keepers during animal feeds. Plus, see new arrivals such as Warjun, Marwell’s new snow leopard, a baby red river hoglet and more.
There will be opportunities to meet the zoo’s animal mascots on Marwell Hall Drive at intervals throughout the day – which will be your favourite?
Craft sessions to create a wooden zoo craft will run between 10am and 3pm each day in Marwell Hall. This activity is suitable for children aged 3+ and is subject to availability.
There will also be fun animal-themed face painting on Marwell Hall Drive on Tuesday 28, Wednesday 29, and Thursday 30 May, so kids of all ages can transform into their most loved animals.
Why not wear your favourite animal costume, ears or tail, then, strike a pose for a cute selfie, family shot or photo in your favourite spot.
If you post your snaps, don’t forget to tag Marwell Zoo in your photos so they can share the love across their social media channels too.
If you’re feeling peckish, Café Graze will be selling limited edition “Love Your Zoo” biscuits and has a wide range of food and drink with views over the zoo’s beautiful Valley Field.
Or bring a picnic and enjoy one of the zoo’s picturesque picnic spots or picnic huts dotted around the park.
With five adventure play areas and 140-acres of space to explore there’s something to keep kids of all ages entertained.
Charges apply for the craft activity and facepainting and guests can turn up to the activity and pay on the day. Please note, there may be queues for the craft activity and face painting.
Download the free Marwell Zoo app for a park map, feed times and news and don’t forget to dress for the weather.
Plus, keep your eyes peeled on our social media channels for the chance to win an awesome zoo prize.
