Step into the boots of the Marwell team and try out activities inspired by the jobs that happen every day across the zoo – from weighing food to stock taking and recycling!

As you explore the zoo, keep an eye out for fun facts like how much our animals eat. Come camera ready, with fun photo opportunities around the zoo, including the chance to meet our hardworking ‘Marwell Machines’.

By stepping behind the scenes, you’ll see how much goes into running a modern zoo, and just how many people it takes to keep everything working, caring and thriving.

Hands-On Discovery Hub

Daily, 10.30am – 3.30pm

Become part of the Marwell team at our interactive Discovery Hub.

Have a go at the everyday tasks that help keep the zoo moving. From weighing animal food like a Keeper, to problem-solving like our Maintenance Team, and even sorting recycling, you’ll discover what goes into making Marwell thrive.

Meet the Marwell Machines

Come along to meet some of the hardworking ‘Marwell Machines’, including the chance to sit on ‘Little Blue’, our small tractor, and grab a photo.

Strike a pose at one of our many Zoo Wonders photo opportunities dotted around the zoo, perfect for capturing your day as part of Team Marwell.

Glitter Tattoos

Daily, 10am – 2pm

Add a little sparkle to your day with our animal themed glitter tattoos.

Additional charge applies. Suitable for ages 4+. Glitter tattoos may not be suitable for children with sensitive skin or known skin conditions – please speak to a member of staff on the day. Children must be supervised.

Virtual Reality Experience: Under the Asian Canopies

Daily, 10am – 1pm

Did you know that animals have important jobs too? From orangutan ‘engineers’ to dung beetle ‘recyclers’, discover how animals shape their environment as you journey through Asia’s remarkable ecosystems.

After the film, explore the zoo and see how Marwell’s animals help support its ecosystems – some even help heat zoo buildings using their poo!

VR shows take place daily in the Giraffe House. Additional charge applies.

Animal Feeds & Talks

Daily

Learn more about the animals you love and chat to their keepers during our daily feeding sessions.

Afternoon Tea at Marwell Hall
