We’re on the fringe of the South Downs National Park and very well connected!
It might be a stretch to say that all roads lead to Marwell but the park is within easy reach of two motorways and rail stations and only 8 miles from Winchester. If you’re looking for things to do in the Bournemouth (40 miles) or Southampton (10 miles) areas it’s the perfect choice. We’re also just a stone’s throw from the New Forest (16 miles) and Portsmouth (19 miles).
Travel by bus and we’d be delighted to reward you with a 10% discount on park entry when you show your valid bus ticket at admissions or the ticket stored on your mobile app.
Available on Sundays and bank holiday Mondays only, the 69 bus route run by Stagecoach departs from Winchester Bus Station stand E and travels via St Cross Bell Inn, Twyford crossroads and Colden Common Spring Lane to Marwell Zoo entrance and then to Bishops Waltham Square.
Please check the operators website for up to date fare and route information.
Marwell's postcode is SO21 1JH. We are situated just off the B2177 between Colden Common and Bishops Waltham. Just follow the large brown tourist signs. If you’re planning a motorway route, then head off the M3 at J11 or the M27 at J10 (westbound) or J5 (eastbound).
P.S. If you're looking for Marwell Activity Centre, they're just down the road from us. From Fishers Pond - keep going and they are at the next turning on the left.
The nearest train stations are Southampton Airport Parkway (7 miles), Eastleigh (5 miles) and Winchester (8 miles). Local rail information can be found at www.threeriversrail.com
Local taxi companies include:
Handicabs 02380 615222
Galaxy Cars 02382 182786
Please contact them for fare information.
If you're coming by bicycle, our closest National Cycle Route is number 23 (5.2 miles) and you're welcome to leave your bikes on a rack just inside our admissions building. Please be aware spaces are limited and belongings are left at your own risk.
Marwell zoo is pretty big (140 acres of beautiful Hampshire parkland to explore) and whilst we’d recommend that you allow at least 4-5 hours for your visit, you might like to slow the pace down even further and make a weekend of it. If that’s the case then the safari themed Marwell Hotel is located right on our doorstep.
Continue planning your visit, or check out our ticket prices.
We are facing our toughest challenge to date and our road to recovery will be long.
