Our photography competition is back!

We’re looking for 12 gorgeous photos of our resident animals to feature in our 2024 Marwell Calendar which will go on sale in our gift shop. Sales of the calendar contribute to our vital conservation work in the UK and around the world!

If you love wildlife photography and would like to be in with the chance to win some amazing prizes, simply submit up to 5 images to our dedicated Flickr group. Keep reading for Terms and Conditions.

This year, we’ll be offering up prizes to the winners of each category:

• Birds (2 winners)
• Big cats (2 winners)
• Large mammals (3 winners)
• Small mammals (2 winners)
• Invertebrates (1 winner)
• Reptiles and fish (2 winners)

What are the prizes?

The overall winning photographer

• 1 Annual Membership* + Photography Experience Day for 1 person (worth £350!)
• Image on display in the calendar and on the front cover

• A copy of the calendar

Terms and Conditions of entry

Entries must be submitted by 11.59pm on 1 June 2023.

Images must have been taken at Marwell Zoo since 1 May 2022 and be of current animal residents. You can submit up to five photos to our dedicated Flickr page.

Images must be approved by a Marwell moderator before they will appear on the Flickr feed, so thank you for your patience.

Images should be landscape and in print quality (300dpi). Minor manipulation of images using Photoshop or equivalent is permitted. All entries must be the original work of the entrant and must not contravene the rights of third parties.

The competition is open to all residents of the UK, except Marwell Wildlife employees or anyone connected with the competition. By entering the competition participants agree that their name may be released if they win, and that their photograph may be used for promotional purposes. By entering the competition, each entrant grants to Marwell Wildlife a non-exclusive, irrevocable licence to reproduce and publish their image(s) in all media, in perpetuity – including, but not limited to, all use in the context of:

• Judging the competition
• Display in the calendar
• Marwell Wildlife printed collateral
• Marwell Wildlife website and social media
• Promotional, press and marketing materials associated with the competition and/or Marwell Wildlife
• Merchandising associated with the competition and/or Marwell Wildlife

Entry is free, however please consider that Marwell Wildlife is a charity and donations can be made online. The top images from each category, judged by our in-house experts, will be added to the Marwell Wildlife Facebook page and the number of reactions on each image will determine the final 12. Voting will take place in June 2023.

*No cash alternative to prizes is available and prizes are non-transferable or extendable. Standard Annual Membership terms and conditions apply and is open to existing members. If an existing member wins, they will have the option to gift the membership or extend their own. Adult day tickets are valid for 12 months from date of issue. Shortlisted entries will be selected as part of the judging process and winners will be contacted through Flickr.
