Marwell Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition 2018

We're launching a brand new calendar for 2020 and your photos could feature in it.  Enter our competition and we could be showcasing your photography.

What are we looking for?

12 striking images that capture our residents looking beautiful, exhibiting photographic excellence, high quality and great composition fit to display in a calendar for sale in our gift shop.

One winner will be decided from the 12 successful entries.

Submit up to a maximum of 5 images to our dedicated Flickr Group

Entry is free! However, by entering you accept our competition rules below.

What are the terms and conditions of entry?

Competition open to all residents of the UK except Marwell Wildlife employees and anyone connected with the competition. By entering the competition the participants agree that their name and nearest town of residence may be released if they win, and that their likeness may be used for pre-arranged promotional purposes.

All entries must be the original work of the entrant and must not contravene the rights of third parties.

Technical spec:  Ideally Images should be landscape as this is the calendar layout.  If submitting portrait images they must be capable of being cropped to fit.

Images must be available in print quality (300dpi).  If not submitted to Flickr at that resolution then the image must be available at that resolution should the submission be selected as a finalist.

Minor manipulation of images using Photoshop or equivalent is permitted.

By entering the competition, each entrant grants to Marwell Wildlife a non-exclusive irrevocable license to reproduce, publish and communicate to the public by any means and exhibit their awarded image(s) and copies of their awarded image(s) in all media throughout the world in relation to the competition including but not limited to all use in the context of:

  • Judging the competition
  • Display in the calendar
  • Inclusion in Marwell Wildlife printed collateral
  • Inclusions within Marwell Wildlife websites and social media  channels
  • Inclusion in promotional, press and marketing materials associated with the competition and/or Marwell Wildlife.
  • Inclusion in any merchandising associated with the competition and/or Marwell Wildlife.

Entries must be submitted by 11.59pm on 30 April 2019

Entry is free, however pleased consider that Marwell Wildlife is a charity and donations can be made online. 

The top 20 images as judged will be added to the Marwell Wildlife Facebook page and the number of reactions on each image will determine the final 12. Voting will take place during May 2019. 

No cash alternative to prizes is available and prizes are non-transferable. The main prize of a Photographic Experience with our expert photographer, Jason Brown is for one adult. Prize will be arranged directly with the winner at a mutually convenient time for the winner and photographer Jason Brown, and is subject to availability.

Images must be taken between 30 August 2016 and 30 April 2019. Due to the nature of the competition only photos of animals currently at Marwell Zoo are likely to be considered.

Shortlisted entries will be selected as part of the judging process and finalists will be contacted via email through Flickr if they are not known to us already. Once photos are submitted they cannot be changed.
