1st - 31st August 2018

We are excited to welcome Mr Bloom from CBeebies with his one man show to Marwell this summer for selected dates*. Why not, pop along and say ‘Ello!’ with CBeebies star Mr Bloom. There’ll be a bundle of veggie stories, gardening games, and catchy Nursery songs for tiddlers and parents alike. To sum it up in the words of a famous Aubergine: ‘Let’s sing and dance and have some fun!’

*See Mr Bloom on the following dates:

4, 5, 11 & 12, 18, 19, 25, 26 & 27 August

Join us throughout the holidays for a recycled material sculpture trail around the zoo. Artist Michelle Reader has been making unique figurative sculptures from household waste and found objects since 1997. These distinctive sculptures draw attention to environmental issues and encourage guests to consider how items they would normally throw away have the potential for creative re-use.  Her sculptures are often representations of the natural world - for example a jaguar made from satellite dishes and remote controls, a bumblebee with a gas mask for a face, or a bird with venetian blind feathers and shelf brackets for a beak.

If you are visiting us on 30 or 31 July guests are invited to stop by Marwell Hall between 11am and 1pm or 1.30pm to 4pm where Michelle will be creating the final sculptures for the trail and guests will be invited to help her using the recycled materials she has collected to build the animals.

Throughout summer, young families will also be charmed by a live action puppet show – featuring hilarious Marvellous Marwellous mechanical man-eating plant puppets. Crazy botanist Dr Chris Anthemum will tell the story of his travels to find a rare plant for the zoo’s new Tropical House, which has grown a little more than he bargained for! His show takes place every weekday throughout August.

Events are free with normal zoo admission.
