Marwell Zoo is the only zoo in the UK to home all three zebra species, including Grevy’s zebra – the world’s most endangered zebra.
Join us for a special weekend of activities to meet our keepers and discover the work we’re doing to conserve this important species.

Zebra Weekend activities are running from Friday 31 January – Sunday 2 February 2025.

Zebra discovery drop-in sessions
Fri & Sat, 10.30am – 3pm
Visit the Science & Learning Centre’s Rainforest Classroom to dive into the stripy world of zebras.
Get up close and hands-on with real zebra pelts from all three species—can you spot the differences? There’s so much to discover, from bones (including a hoof!) to poo! Learn who’s who in the zoo and discover how our zebras at the zoo have helped conservation biologists track and monitor these amazing equids in the wild.

Keeper talks
Sat & Sun, 12.30pm & 2.30pm
Meet our dedicated zebra keepers and discover more about our herd.

Face painting
Sat & Sun, 10.30am – 3.30pm
Go wild with zebra-themed face painting!
Additional cost: £5 per face. Available 10.30am – 3.30pm (queue closes 2.45pm).
Suitable for ages 3+. Children must be supervised. If your child has sensitive skin or any skin condition, it is the parents responsibility to advise if they are suitable for face painting. Subject to availability.

Zebra-themed fundraising

Take part in our fundraising activity, with a chance to win a prize. All money raised will support our Grevy’s Zebra Conservation Project in Kenya.

Join Marwell’s Senior Conservation Biologist, Tanya Langenhorst, for our first members talk of 2025. Discover how we first got involved in Grevy’s zebra work in Kenya, who our team is, and what we’re doing to protect this species.
