We are delighted to have been chosen to feature on a special edition monopoly game for Winchester.

Marwell Zoo earns a place on the official Winchester Monopoly board! We are delighted to have been chosen to feature on a special edition monopoly game for Winchester.

Our very own Lenny the Lemur recently attended the official launch of the Winchester version of the game, which took place in the magnificent 13th Century Great Hall in the heart of Winchester city centre. The game’s makers, Winning Moves UK, say the game is in part to celebrate the 200th anniversary of Jane Austen’s death and will be a “lasting legacy” to both Winchester and Ms Austen. They also say it is a “celebration of – and a love letter to – England’s former capital, Winchester.”

Marwell Zoo is one of around 30 leading Winchester landmarks and businesses replacing the famous London Monopoly addresses.

Head of Marketing, Paul Simmons says: “We are delighted to be part of the Winchester Monopoly board, which showcases the great and good of the historic city. Many of our supporters nominated us to feature, which helped secure our place on this special edition of the iconic board game. Our gift shop team are excited to be stocking the game as a tempting souvenir for visiting guests.”

Marwell Zoo occupies a yellow space on the board, traditionally home to Leicester Square, Coventry Street and Piccadilly in the London version of the game. The space features an image of our beautiful 15-year-old giraffe, Isabella. Our 5-year-old endangered male Amur tiger Bagai represents Marwell Zoo on the box lid and a Marwell-themed Community Chest card declares that players can collect M10 from every player, having completed a fun run for the charity.

The brand new monopoly board for Winchester has already hit shop shelves and is available to buy in our Gift Shop priced £29.99. Annual members benefit from an exclusive 10% discount. Get your copy in time for Christmas!
