An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Animal Keeper to join our Hoofstock team on a full time basis. For the right candidate, this post offers a fantastic opportunity to work with a wide range of Hoofstock species from Dorcas Gazelle to White Rhino and contribute to captive breeding programmes with species such as Okapi, Grevys Zebra, Somali Wild Ass and Rothschild Giraffe.
Animal Keepers are responsible for carrying out all aspects of animal care, including husbandry routines, environmental enrichment and supporting veterinary intervention as required.
The successful candidate will have a background in the keeping of a variety of Hoofstock species. You will be able to work well as part of a team, have the ability to use your initiative, display an interest in and commitment to animal welfare and conservation, and must possess strong communication skills.

COVID-19 update - We are currently unable to accommodate Keeper work experience placements due to on-going restrictions imposed by the current situation. We will update this page when changes occur.
If you are interested in keeper work experience please read the following carefully before contacting us.
Marwell runs an unpaid work experience keeper scheme from the beginning of March to August each year for a period of two weeks only.
Placements are limited to students over the age of 17 years and who are already studying an animal related course such as the Diploma in The Management of Zoo and Aquarium Animals (DMZAA).
For Sparsholt College (Winchester) students - applications should be made to your tutor direct at the beginning of November of the year prior to the period of work experience required.
All work experience students must fulfil all of the above criteria and be able to produce a letter from their tutor confirming their appropriate course and be able to attend an interview before being considered for a placement .
COVID-19 update - We are currently unable to accommodate ANY veterinary placements on-site due to on-going restrictions imposed by the current situation. This will be reviewed in July 2021.
We currently have limited availability for veterinary student placements, and can only provide clinical EMS. Priority is given to vet students enrolled with the University of Surrey. However, where possible, the vet team will consider 4th and final year vet students, from other Universities. Earlier years cannot be accommodated at present.
