Guest Services Assistants 

Catering Assistants

Are you friendly & enthusiastic? Could you wow our guests with your fabulous service? Can you work school holidays, weekends & bank holidays as well as some week days? 

We have some fabulous opportunities to join the Marwell family on annualised contracts as Catering Assistants in our Catering team. The successful candidate will help with the day to day running of our catering outlets, ensuring the highest levels of customer service at all times. Applicants must have excellent customer service and communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team. A basic food hygiene qualification would be advantageous but not essential as training will be given.

Senior Animal Keeper – Carnivores  

A full time opportunity has arisen to join our Animal Management Team as a Senior Animal Keeper on our Carnivores section.

We’re looking for candidates with a good understanding of carnivore species’ biology, natural history, husbandry & welfare. We have exciting plans for our collection and exhibits, offering great opportunities for creative project and team work with a focus on animal behavior, nutrition and enrichment. This post offers a fantastic opportunity to work with our extensive carnivore collection including species such as Amur tigers, Amur leopards, snow leopards, otters and mongoose.  

This role is responsible for supporting both the team and the Team Leader and ensuring high standards of animal husbandry and welfare at all times whilst ensuring that all exhibits and facilities are maintained to the highest possible standards. 

The successful candidate must possess current knowledge of issues affecting zoological collections and their contributions to conservation, science, sustainability & education.

Specialist taxonomic knowledge and experience in carnivore species with a minimum Level 3 (ANC / DMZAA) or equivalent qualification in animal management or biological sciences is essential. Accommodation may be available on a short term basis to the successful candidate. Please note this would incur a rental cost. Due to the need to drive park vehicles, candidates must also hold a full driving license valid for the UK.

Interpretation & Engagement Manager

Marwell Wildlife is seeking a dynamic and collaborative interpretation and public engagement innovator to develop and deliver our brand of experiential public engagement in nature, wildlife conservation and sustainable living. As a genuinely collaborative and embracing character, the successful candidate will bring an infectious enthusiasm for nature and its value for human wellbeing. They will have a relevant post-graduate qualification, a track record in successful planning, delivery and evaluation of interpretation and public engagement activities, and above all, key managerial qualities to lead and nurture and establish a large team of volunteers.

In the coming years, there will be an emphasis on growing our team of voluntary educators to share their enthusiasm with a growing audience of over half a million guests who love to learn. At the same time, we are creating new and exciting zoological exhibits focussed on natural history and global environmental issues. Interpretation must also appeal to the growing number of over 40,000 school children spanning all key stages of the national curriculum. We will also seek to deliver periodic campaigns to elicit positive outcomes to support sustainability goals. We expect our interpretation and engagement strategy to embrace a variety of media from static displays to artwork, drama and interactive technologies, but with a core of warm, welcoming and compelling interactions with our team. Reporting to the Head of Social Impact & Learning, our new Interpretation and Engagement Manager will come with the expectation of fulfilling these aspirations and developing external partnerships to support them.

Housekeepers 

We have some great opportunities to join the Marwell family as Housekeepers in our Guest Services Team. Our Housekeepers are responsible for cleaning and maintaining guest areas within the park to a high standard.

Work Experience

If you are interested in keeper work experience please read the following carefully before contacting us.

All work experience positions within the animal department for 2019 are now filled. Placements for 2020 will be considered in November 2019.

Applications for 2020 should be submitted no earlier than 1 November 2019.   For further information please contact our Registrar

Marwell runs an unpaid work experience keeper scheme from the beginning of March to August each year for a period of two weeks only.

Placements are limited to students over the age of 17 years and who are already studying an animal related course such as the Diploma in The Management of Zoo and Aquarium Animals (DMZAA).

For Sparsholt College (Winchester) students - applications should be made to your tutor direct at the beginning of November of the year prior to the period of work experience required.

To be considered for a position please complete the application form , attach a copy of your CV and send to our Registrar.

All work experience students must fulfil all of the above criteria and be able to produce a letter from their tutor confirming their appropriate course and be able to attend an interview before being considered for a placement .

Veterinary student applications

We currently have limited availability for veterinary student placements, and can only provide clinical EMS. Priority is given to vet students enrolled with the University of Surrey. However, where possible, the vet team will consider 4th and final year vet students, from other Universities. Earlier years cannot be accommodated at present. Internships

We do not offer internships at this time.
